Welcome to the first edition of the 2KP review. As the spring time finally approaches we bring you more updates from Romania. In this first issue our virtual travels take us back to Romania to report on the following:
- BRASOV AIRPORT Construction has started! On April 15th 2008 at 12.00 o’clock PM the start of the airport construction was celebrated. The airport website www.airportbrasov.ro states: “At last, an airport in Brasov! Now we have a way to fly. A dream comes true.” Bless!
- 350 million Euros for European Business Park Brasov Spanish developer Graell & Llonch are investing 350 million euros for the construction of an industrial park in the village of Prejmer, Brasov county (1.5 km from Harman). The park will cover some 87 hectares, in an area where the average price is 65 euros per square meter. The constructions will add to this price some 360 euros per square meter. The project was tabled for approval in 2005 and has a deadline in 2009.
- The majestic landscape of Rasnov is linked to “Cold Mountain Golf and Spa” project. The developers have just announced that their chosen location of the golf course has been submitted to Nicklaus Design for approval. The name Nicklaus has long been associated with greatness on a golf course. Should Nicklaus Design choose to design the Cold Mountain Golf Course we could be looking at the best golf course in Romania!

Donald Trump to invest 1 Bln Euro in Romania 6th April, 2008
The American tycoon will sign a protocol of collaboration with the Chamber of Real Estate Trade and the Association of Real Estate Investors. If everything goes on according to his plans, in the next five years we shall announce Trump office spaces and Trump residential complexes, maybe even Trump hotels.
It is only known that the American wants to call all the projects by his own name. Everybody knows about Donald Trump and that he has already built a real estate empire.
U.S. Credit Crunch unlikely to affect Romania, December 2007
The credit crunch that hit the United States earlier this year and now the world markets is unlikely to affect Romania seriously, as the market of the EU newcomer is underdeveloped when compared to most of the other members of the European Union, Raiffeisen Bank Romania's Vice-President and Chief Risk Officer said.

Women's Day, Men’s' Day: Legal in Romania?
Tuesday, 01 April 2008 Romanian men might become equal to their women on 5th May
Women’s Day and Men’s Day could become legal holidays in Romania according to a draft law based on citizen initiative. Officially, 8th March is already Women's day in Romania. According to this new project, which is currently debated in the Parliament, men might have their own celebration day on the 5th May, Mediafax reports.
Supporters of the idea claim that, even though men and women are considered equal, only women have their own special day in this country. Should the bill pass, both days are to become Romanian bank holidays. Given that Women’s Day is also considered here Mother’s Day, Men’s Day would probably become Father’s Day.
In the European Union, Romania has the lowest number of bank holidays (8) in a year. Slovenia has 18, Slovakia and Austria 15, Malta 14, Bulgaria 13, Poland 12, and France 11 official holidays per year.
The biggest goulash in the world. Bon appétit! Saturday, 26 May 2007
Thousands of plates of goulash will be given for free at Chestnut Festival. Popular in Hungary and Transylvania alike, the goulash is a savoury dish typically made of beef, potato, lots of onion, and, of course, lots of paprika.
When they say 'lots of', they really mean it, for this time the whole thing will weight 7,500 Kg.
Two famous cooks from Baia Mare city, Northern Transylvania, plan to prepare in September 2007 a goulash that will supposedly feed all the 22,000 people who will attend this year's edition of the local Chestnut Festival. Chefs Constantin Petrutiu and Dan Cordea have already ordered the 3.5 m diameter cast iron kettle they will use to cook the € 100,000 meal. A number of 150 assistants will take part in the operations of peeling 2,000 Kg of potatoes, preparing 1,000 Kg of meat, and manipulating seven huge wooden spoons to stir well the boiling ingredients.
The two goulash masters plan to beat the previous world record of 5,000 Kg reached in 2006 in Salonta, another Transylvanian place, a record that was officially credited in the Guinness Book.
